The Jeopardy board game might not be the first thing that pops into your mind when you are thinking about what might be a fun thing the family can do together, but let me give you the benefit of our experience with it.
I have been a big fan of the Jeopardy game show since I was in high school, and to this day, I will watch it whenever I get a chance. I have always loved to test my own knowledge against that of the contestants on the show, and it is really a great way to learn about a lot of different subjects.
A few years ago, my wife bought me a Jeopardy board game for my birthday. I was not sure how much I would like it, because quite frankly, I was being lazy, and thinking about all of the assembly that would be required. I could, after all, simply turn on the television and watch the show with no work necessary.
I thanked my wife, and we actually went ahead and set it up that night, and just like the game show itself, I fell in love with it almost immediately. I never wanted to be the person reading the questions, but I loved having the opportunities it provided that the televised show did not.
For instance, with the Jeopardy board game, I could choose my own categories when I wanted to, and not have to be at the mercy of the contestants themselves. If I was bad in a certain category, I could simply move on to a different one that I was better in, and choose questions from there.
Another big advantage of the Jeopardy board game is that I can play it whenever I want. Typically, with the television show, it is on twice a day, and if you are busy or have to miss it for some reason, you have to wait until the next day to get it again.
I also found that both of my children enjoy playing the game, and will actually approach my wife and I about playing sometimes. They have gotten really good at it, and are learning so much from playing that it does our hearts good to know they can become educated while having fun. I have also seen both of my children go online after a game to look up material related to a question they answered.
The only drawback to the Jeopardy board game that I have seen is that eventually, you do get to where you have seen all of the cards and know the answers. There’s a lot of games like that though. The good thing about the Jeopardy board game, though, is that they are always coming out with new versions, and versions in other formats as well, such as video and computer games. My wife and I have already bought several other versions.
The Jeopardy board game turned out to be a blessing for me and my family, and I still get it out sometimes to look at question cards. It was a gift about which I was originally skeptical, but has actually turned out to be one of the best presents I have ever received.
For anyone looking for a game the whole family can enjoy, a game that is challenging and gets you thinking, and which can help keep your mind sharp and get the kids excited about learning interesting things, especially if you are a Jeopardy fan, I can enthusiastically recommend the Jeopardy board game.
